Get to know Eliza
Eliza’s love affair with music started early. Her parents, both classical pianists, regularly bombarded her prenatal ears with Beethoven and Co and, by the tender age of three, she herself was plinking the piano keys.
Born in Clapham, raised in Yorkshire, Singapore, Brunei… and then Yorkshire again, Eliza’s earliest vocal performances were in the many choirs led by her mother. At the same time, she was studying piano, cello and bass guitar, which brought her, aged 19, to the renowned Leeds College of Music. That’s when jazz took its hold and refused to let go.
Graduating with first-class honours in Jazz and Contemporary Music in 1993, Eliza went on to perform as a vocalist, pianist and bassist all over the UK and in Europe – from bars and restaurants to weddings, and from luxury hotel residencies to many of the big jazz festivals including Edinburgh, Marston, Hull and Cork.
Now living in London, Eliza’s live shows are only part of the story. She’s also the vocal tutor at several of the capital’s most prestigious music schools, including the Arts Educational School in Chiswick and the BRIT School. And, somehow, Eliza still manages to make time for her imaginative arranging and composing. She’s currently recording her first album. Stay tuned…
